Discover Pink's Hot Dog

If you're in North Hollywood and craving a bite of iconic American street food, Pink's Hot Dog is the place to be. Located at 201 Universal City Plaza, North Hollywood, CA, this beloved establishment is an institution for hot dog enthusiasts. Since 1939, it has been serving up delicious, customizable hot dogs that have earned a place in both local and tourist hearts alike.

Pink's Hot Dog has become a staple in the Los Angeles food scene. Known for its huge variety of toppings and mouthwatering combinations, it offers a unique twist on a classic dish. Whether you're in the mood for a chili dog, a bacon-wrapped dog, or something more exotic like the “Macho Dog” with jalapeños, relish, and avocado, there’s something for every palate. It's no surprise that many celebrities and food critics alike make it a point to stop by whenever they’re in town.

The menu at Pink's Hot Dog is extensive, with a variety of both traditional and creative hot dog options. Alongside the classic hot dog, you'll find inventive creations such as the "Ketchup Dog" for those who appreciate simplicity, or the "Pastrami Dog," which offers a meaty upgrade with rich pastrami piled on top of a perfectly grilled dog. For a slightly more indulgent option, the “Chicago Dog” is a fan favorite, boasting a unique mix of mustard, onions, relish, tomatoes, and a pickle spear all stuffed inside a soft, steamed bun.

Many visitors enjoy pairing their hot dog with a side of crispy fries, and Pink's doesn’t disappoint. The fries are thick-cut and golden brown, perfect for dipping into one of their signature sauces. Some even opt for the onion rings, which are crisp and flavorful, providing the ideal balance to the richness of the hot dogs.

The restaurant's atmosphere is another big draw. Its vibrant, casual vibe makes it the perfect place for a quick bite while on the go. Despite its long history, Pink’s Hot Dog has maintained a welcoming and modern feel. There’s often a line, but the wait is usually short, and the staff is friendly and quick. The fast pace of service means you'll be enjoying your hot dog in no time, no matter how busy it is.

Beyond the food, Pink's Hot Dog has a legacy that is hard to ignore. Over the years, it has built a strong reputation not just for its delicious menu but also for its community involvement. The restaurant has received praise from notable food critics and has even been featured on shows like "The Food Network." It's one of those rare gems where the food lives up to the hype, and the experience of visiting makes it even more memorable.

Reviews consistently mention the high-quality ingredients used in each dog. The buns are soft yet sturdy enough to hold the hefty toppings without falling apart. The sausages themselves are flavorful and juicy, providing a satisfying bite that complements the array of toppings. Whether you’re coming in for a quick snack or making it a full meal, you’re guaranteed an experience that doesn’t disappoint.

The location at Universal City Plaza makes Pink's Hot Dog an ideal stop for tourists visiting Universal Studios or Hollywood. Its proximity to major attractions means that tourists can easily swing by for a delicious meal before or after a day of sightseeing. For locals, it’s a place to gather with friends or grab a quick, satisfying meal in the heart of one of the busiest neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

Whether you’re a hot dog aficionado or someone just looking for a great meal, Pink's Hot Dog offers an experience that blends quality food with a slice of LA history. With its unbeatable combination of great taste, fast service, and an inviting atmosphere, it's no wonder this spot has remained a favorite for decades.

  • We spent the day at Universal Studios and chose to have dinner at City Walk, after the park closed. City Walk is right next door to Universal Studios Hollywood and is full of little shops and restaurants, The night view with all the neon signs is really beautiful. There are 2 levels at City Walk. Most of the businesses upstairs are fast food restaurants. It is set-up like a food court. Many of the restaurants have a couple of tables inside where you order. There are many more tables set-up just outside each restaurant for bigger parties or if you and your friends and family each want something different to eat and then all meet back at a table to eat together and people-watch the crowds below. Pink's Hot Dog is one of your dining choices. They are open for lunch and dinner. It will probably cost you about $20-$25 for a hot dog(or burger), fries, and a drink. But, just to be fair, all the restaurants on this level will cost about the same per person. I ordered the Chili Dog and fries combo. The employee who helped me was very friendly. My order was ready in about 5 minutes. The chili dog had-Mustard, diced onions, and chili. the fries seemed to be seasoned. It was a good meal.

  • A friend was surprised I’ve never had Pink’s so we ate here after seeing a movie. I had the chili cheese dog and he had the chili cheese fries. Other than the bun being ever so slightly stale (friend said they use better buns at the og location?) I thought it was great.

  • My friends and I each ordered the Betty White combo. The cashier double checked we understood we were buying naked hot dogs (which we did). The hotdogs themselves were pretty decent. The fries were really good. We enjoyed sitting at the tables outside. We visited on a Wednesday so it was pretty quiet. The service was fast and the food was light enough to not cause us problems in Universal Studios.

  • I recently visited Pink's Hot Dogs at Universal Studios LA and ordered the Nacho Cheese Chili Fries. The flavor was good, and the chili had a nice kick, but the cheese was a bit too much for my liking—it overpowered the other ingredients. Overall, still a tasty snack, but a little less cheese would have made it perfect.
